Analysis of experimental data on surface potentials and charges of qua
rtz capillaries in aqueous solutions of cationic surfactant (CTAB) at
various pH values of the background solution was made on the basis of
previously obtained derivations. Experimental data obtained was shown
to be in good agreement with the model of the Langmuir adsorption on t
wo types of active sites, i.e., charged and uncharged. Adsorption pote
ntials on these sites, Phi(1) and Phi(2), equal to -15 kT and -11 kT,
respectively, were determined. Calculated results based on monolayer a
nd two-layer models of adsorption were virtually identical, thus makin
g preference of one of these mechanisms impossible.
