Abstract
The authors report on intracavity Raman backscatter measurements in a passively modelocked 1200 m-long fibre ring laser for distributed temp erature sensing. The high intracavity power leads to a relatively larg e and easily detected Raman backscatter signal, whereas the short puls e duration (0.7 ns) promises high spatial resolution.
