Abstract
Speech technology provides a powerful tool for the development of new products and services, particularly within the telecommunications sect or. This paper considers current speech technology and discusses appro aches to the design of successful interactive speech systems. A number of examples are given of existing sen,ices and advanced prototype sys tems.
