Abstract
This paper discusses service creation tools and the benefits which the se tools can deliver. The BT VISAGE (voice interactive services applic ation generation environment) service creation tool is used as a speci fic example and is described in some detail. VISAGE is currently used within BT to generate advanced network-based services, an example of t his being the network-based call-answering service 'CallMinder' which runs on the interactive speech applications platform (ISAP).
