Kinetic aspects of aggregate formation in model colloidal systems, inc
luding those containing polymer, have been studied by the method of no
nlinear laser diagnostics. The proposed method provides simultaneous m
onitoring of the particle size distribution, the packing density of pa
rticles in aggregates, and the variation kinetics of these parameters.
An interrelation is established between the structure of adsorbed pol
ymer layers on the particle surface and the density of flocks formed.
The experimentally measured packing densities of particles in aggregat
es correlate with the values calculated by theoretical methods.
