Abstract
1-Hydroxy-3,4,7,8-tetramethoxyxanthone, beta-sitosterol, uvaol-3-palmi tate, and sweroside have been isolated from the fresh whole plant of T ripterospermum lanceolatum (Hayata) Haraex Satake (Gentianaceae). Our results on the pharmacological studies of xanthone glycoside and lance oside suggested that they have a CNS depressant effect.
