The contribution of Lorentz nonscalar operators to finite temperature
correlation functions is discussed. Using the local duality approach f
or the one-pion matrix element of a product of two vector currents, th
e temperature dependence of the average gluonic stress tensor is estim
ated in the chiral limit to be [E2 + B2]T = (pi2/10)bT4. At a normaliz
ation point mu = 0.5 GeV we obtain b almost-equal-to 1.1. Together wit
h the known temperature dependence of the Lorentz scalar gluon condens
ate we are able to infer [E2]T and [B2]T separately in the low-tempera
ture hadronic phase.
