Abstract
The paper presents a novel model and its equivalent transmission line equations (ETLEs) for analysing the coupling of external electromagnet ic sources to underground multiconductor transmission systems. The ear th conduction effect, earth surface boundary, mutual coupling among mu lticonductors and impressed fields are all taken into account and desc ribed simultaneously in the same ETLEs utilising equivalent transmissi on parameters. Although the model is developed by employing a series o f mathematical transforms, its general and closed representations in t he form of ETLEs are simple and intuitive, and can easily be applied t o calculate coupling and interference problems in many engineering app lications. An application of this model to conductive coupling to a tw o underground conductor system is shown to be in good agreement with e xperimental results.
