The results of measurements of hysteresis loops and related power loss
es in monofilamentary and multifilamentary 2223-BCCO tapes are present
ed and discussed in this paper. It is shown that magnetic properties c
onsiderably depend on technological processes and differ significantly
between mono- and multifilamentary specimens. In particular, the vari
ation of magnetic quantities, e.g. coercive field and residual magneti
zation, with applied outer magnetic field, as well as the comparison w
ith critical current measurements, support the Bean model and, moreove
r, help to deduce the effective cross section of the superconductor.
