Abstract
We have studied the possibility of developing lines with the alien sub stitution of chromosome 5R from the rye cultivar Onokhoyskaya for its homoeologues 5A or 5D of various cultivars of common wheat recognized by the manifestation of the Hp marker gene. The scheme suggested is ba sed on using the Hp gene as a phenotypic marker for isolation of 42-ch romosome plants with the genotype 20 '' W+I'W+5R' for weak pubescence of culm. Analysis of gamete transmission frequency in the reciprocal h ybrids BCl with the chromosomal constitution 20 '' W+5A'+5R' showed th at the frequency of transmission of gametes 20+5R is higher through th e male parent than through the female (37.8% and 17.8%, respectively), and that of gametes 21+5R is practically identical through either (7. 7% and 8.4%, respectively). Following our method, we have developed ni ne lines with chromosome 5R substituted for 5A, one line with 5RL(5A) and monosomic alien substitution lines and addition lines with rye chr omosome 5R in various recipient cultivars.
