The main stages involved in the formation of coatings by diffusiophore
sis are considered and the principles of designing optimum composition
s for the application of this method are determined. The function of e
ach component of the composition is discussed and the interrelation be
tween the components is substantiated. New compositions, in which hydr
ofluoric acid (undesirable for ecological reasons) is replaced by orth
o-phosphoric and some other acids, are developed. It is demonstrated t
hat the main process that accounts for the growth of the deposit is th
e diffusiophoretic drift of polymer particles toward the surface of me
tal, which leads to concentration of the particles near the surface, f
ollowed by their coagulation.
