Abstract
It has been suggested that deformation problems caused by a non-unifor m temperature distribution in the Holland profile after hot rolling ca n be solved by selective water spray cooling. To establish the heat tr ansfer conditions, i.e. the heat transfer coefficient by spray water c ooling, laboratory experiments were carried out. A transient experimen tal procedure was used. The results from the experiments were then inc orporated into a two-dimensional numerical simulation model of a ship profile, simulating selective air/water spray cooling.
