I. Garces et al., ANALYSIS OF LEAKAGE PROPERTIES AND GUIDING CONDITIONS OF RIB ANTIRESONANT REFLECTING OPTICAL WAVE-GUIDES, Journal of lightwave technology, 14(5), 1996, pp. 798-805
Power leakage properties and guiding conditions of rib antiresonant re
flecting optical waveguides (rib-ARROW) have been theoretically and ex
perimentally studied as a function of wavelength and polarization of t
he light for different geometrical and optical parameters that charact
erize the rib-ARROW structure. Obtained results show that rib-ARROW's
can only be fabricated with low losses in a wavelength range when dete
rmined rib configurations are adopted. Furthermore, these waveguides e
xhibit a polarization sensitivty that largely depends on the core-subs
trate refractive index difference. Together with the experimental resu
lts, theoretical calculations from different modeling methods are also
presented and discussed.
