Reaction of tricarbonylcyclopentadienyl molybdenum anion with X(CH2)(3
)X(X = Br, I) in diglyme gave the cyclic carbene of molybdenum complex
-CpMoX(CO)(2) . CO(CH2)(2)CCH2. The similar reaction of sila-bridged b
iscyclopentadienyltricarbonyl molybdenum anion with 1,3-dihalopropane
proceeds smoothly to afford the corresponding sila-bridged bis [cyclic
carbene molybdenum] complex, E[C(5)H(4)MoX(CO)(2) . CO(CH2)(2)CH2](2)
(E = Me(2)Si, Me(2)SiSiMe(2), Me(2)SiOSiMe(2)). The crystal structure
of one (X = I) of the latter complexes was determined by X-ray crysta
llography. The crystal is triclinic, space group <P(1)over bar> with a
= 0.818 8(1) nm, b = 1.045 4(3) nm, c = 2.332 5(4) nm, alpha = 94.14(
2)degrees, beta = 94.07(1)degrees, gamma = 102.48(2)degrees, V = 1.930
6 nm(3), Z = 2, D-c = 1.854 g/cm(3).
