Abstract
This article describes a new type of external planar applicator with s everal patches. The new planar applicator has been developed for micro wave hyperthermia controlled by microwave radiometry. The theoretical results, which are presented and verified by experimental measurements , clearly show that it is possible to obtain larger heating patterns w ith the multiple-patch planar applicator than with single-patch applic ators.
