Abstract
The physico-chemical behaviour of gelatin, properties of silver halide -gelatin emulsions and coating defects of emulsion layers are influenc ed directly by variation of calcium content in the gelatin. In this pa per, characteristics in X-ray diffraction and IR spectra are compared among gelatin samples containing different amounts of calcium. The add ition of calcium led to a change of the above characteristics in some degree. The effect of calcium on gelatin is discussed from the point o f view of its structure.
