Originating from the actual crisis of the human sciences the concepts
of dynamic and ecological psychiatry are described, the convergencies
and divergencies between both analyzed. The author presents the main f
eatures of dynamic psychiatry (Alexander) with its original psychoanal
ytic concept. The concept of social energy (Ammon) delivers a theory o
f psychic energy between the individual and his environment - a furthe
r contribution to dynamic psychiatry. Social psychiatry emphasizes env
ironmental, epidemiological, aetiologic and preventive factors - all t
hose factors could be articulated in the term >>ecological psychiatry<
<. The author understands an increasing convergence between dynamic an
d ecological psychiatry as a paradigmatic step towards a new integrate
d and holistic psychiatry.
