C. Amlielefond et al., ANOTHER CASE OF VIROLOGICALLY CONFIRMED ZOSTER SINE HERPETE, WITH ELECTROPHYSIOLOGIC CORRELATION, Journal of neurovirology, 2(2), 1996, pp. 136-138
A third virologically-confirmed case of thoracic-distribution tester s
ine herpete is reported. Electromyography (EMG) of paraspinal muscles
demonstrated frequent fibrillation potentials restricted to chronicall
y painful thoracic root segments. Treatment with intravenous acyclovir
and oral famciclovir were ineffective. These findings suggest the use
fulness of EMG of muscles corresponding to painful dermatomes, combine
d with virologic studies, to support the diagnosis of tester sine herp
ete.
