We report a case of and review the literature on eosinophilic ulcer of
the tongue, This is a benign entity frequently unrecognized in clinic
al practice, with only occasional mention in the literature, the clini
cal signs of which are easily confused with those of squamous cell car
cinoma, Although the histopathologic appearance of this entity is dist
inctive, its clinical course and rapid healing without therapy themsel
ves constitute strong diagnostic clues, making diagnostic or therapeut
ic bloody methods generally unnecessary.
