The excitation function of the Ne-22(p,n)Na-22 reaction was determined
up to 17.3 MeV using the ''stacked gas cell'' technique. From the mea
sured cross sections the integral yield of Na-22 was deduced. The opti
mum energy range for production was found to be E(p) = 15 --> 6 MeV, t
he Na-22 yield amounting to 304 kBq (8.2 mu Ci)/mu Ah. A comparison of
the various production routes is given. The Ne-22(p,n)Na-22 process i
s ideally suited for production of Na-22 at a small cyclotron.
