High spin states of the odd-odd Lu-162 nucleus have been studied via S
m-147(F-19.4n gamma) reaction at 95 MeV beam energy Level scheme for y
rast band based on pi[h(11/2)]nu[i(13/2)] quasiparticle configuration
was established up to I-pi = (23(-)) for the first time. This band sho
ws the signature inversion in energy before backbending generally appe
ared in this mass region. It is stressed that the signature splitting
in Lu-162 is larger than that in Tm-160 nucleus.
