ISOTOPE EFFECTS ON BINDING

Several recent reports on isotope effects in processes of binding liga nds (inhibitors, coenzymes, and reactants) to enzymes challenge the do gma that such processes do not exhibit a measurable isotopic fractiona tion. The origin and consequences of studying enzymic reaction mechani sms of binding isotope effects are discussed herein.
