Abstract
The first measurements were made of the degree of depolarisation of ra diation from a single-frequency ring monolithic (chip) YAG:Nd3+ laser pumped by a semiconductor laser diode. The depolarisation was found to be 3 . 10(-3). The dominant mechanism of intracavity losses and of de polarisation of the output radiation diffraction by random inhomogenei ties of the birefringence of the active element.
