A dentigerous cyst is the most common cause of a pericoronal radioluce
ncy involving an impacted mandibular third molar. Spontaneous regressi
on of such a lucency is reported in a patient who failed to attend for
surgical enucleation. Factors promoting bony healing of cysts are dis
