Js. Soodan et al., CLINICOPATHOLOGICAL STUDIES IN DONKEYS EXPERIMENTALLY INFECTED WITH TRYPANOSOMA-EVANSI, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 66(5), 1996, pp. 443-448
Donkeys experimentally infected subcutaneously with 7.5 x 10(6) trypan
osomes showed intermittent fever, weakness, swollen prescapular lymphn
odes, anaemia and emaciation. Haematological examination revealed macr
ocytic normochromic anaemia, leucopenia with marked neutropenia and co
ncomitant lymphocytosis. Albumin decreased and globulin increased. IgM
levels increased persistantly during the course of infection. On necr
opsy, gross and histopathological changes were observed in liver, lung
s, spleen, kidneys and meninges.
