Og. Filatov et al., SOME ASPECTS OF VOLUMETRIC NEUTRON SOURCE BASED ON TOKAMAK WITH WARM MAGNET SYSTEM AND INNER RADIATION SHIELD, Fusion engineering and design, 31(1), 1996, pp. 69-82
The problems of volumetric neutron source (VNS) creation on a tokamak
base with moderate to high aspect ratio (A = 3-4.5) and a multiturn no
rmal conducting ('warm') toroidal field magnet system are discussed. T
wo main variants are analysed: torus major radius R = 1.7m (inner radi
ation shield thickness Delta(in) = 0.2m); R = 3m (Delta(in) = 0.7 m).
Special attention has been given to the following: stationary current
drive realization with beam energy 140-160 keV; the case of plasma dis
ruption impact in comparison with ITER; some engineering aspects of VN
S development including the divertor problem and choice of insulation,
the TF system and vacuum vessel concept, facility assembling/disassem
bling.
