Abstract
This brief review summarizes the physiology and pharmacology of eicosa noids and describes how they have been tested for possible application in liver disease and transplantation. The objective is to trace the s tepwise application from the laboratory to the bedside. Although many questions remain to be answered, the observations summarized in this a rticle have opened up new and potentially rewarding prospects in appli cations to liver disease.
