Abstract
Diffusion mechanisms in quasicrystalline intermetallic compounds are c onsidered. For ordered structures of the i(AlMnSi) type a ten-jump rin g maintaining the atomic order is suggested. It is shown that such a m echanism is reduced to a six-jump cycle for the i(Al, Zn)Mg type phase s. Effects of ordering and electron structure on the diffusion mechani sms are discussed.
