Abstract
Recently, we suggested a novel swelling method to make polymer seed pa rticles absorb a large amount of monomer prior to the seeded polymeriz ation for preparing monodispersed polymer particles having diameter ab ove 5 mu m, which we named the ''dynamic swelling method.'' This artic le discusses the thermodynamic background of this method, both theoret ically and experimentally. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
