M. Gungor et al., NO INCISION TRANSVAGINAL RETROPUBIC URETHROPEXY FOR THE TREATMENT OF FEMALE STRESS URINARY-INCONTINENCE, Journal of gynecologic surgery, 12(1), 1996, pp. 1-5
From August 1991 until April 1994, a total of 45 simplified double-nee
dle bladder neck suspensions for genuine stress incontinence were perf
ormed to assess the effectiveness and perioperative morbidity of the p
rocedure. After a mean follow-up of 26 months, the cure rate was 82.2%
. The average operating time was 20.4 min, and the average hospital st
ay was 2.4 days. The main intraoperative complication was suture in th
e bladder in 10 (22.2%) patients, and the main postoperative complicat
ion was urinary retention in 7 (15.5%) patients. We believe that the f
ast operative time, relatively high success rate, acceptable morbidity
, and technical simplicity make this an ideal operation for the correc
tion of stress urinary incontinence.
