The extended Kalman filter was applied to determine kinetic parameters
of a first-order consecutive reaction. The parameters were obtained w
ith small standard errors and good variance of fit, and agree with tho
se obtained by using the conventional non-linear least square regressi
on. Equations for the extended Kalman filter algorithm for the first-o
rder consecutive reaction were derived and adopted in data analysis.
