Ec. Chew et al., MICROWAVE-ENHANCED IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL STAINING OF A FORMALIN-SENSITIVE ANTIGEN - LAMININ RECEPTOR, Anticancer research, 16(1), 1996, pp. 353-357
Many potentially useful antigens have been difficult to detect in form
alin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues. Recently a number of pathologic
al and research laboratories have demonstrated that some antigens mask
ed by formalin fixation could be restored to detectability by microwav
e heating. Previously, we were unable to demonstrate laminin receptor
in cells processed by the routine fixation, our results showed that mi
crowave heating together with trypsin produced the best immunohistoche
mical staining for this receptor. Nevertheless, no significance was fo
und in the levels of 67 kD LR in high and low metastatic tumor cell li
nes.
