Abstract
Used here is the coupled finite-element state-space (CFE-SS) approach based on the natural ABC flux-linkage frame of reference, to predict a salient-pole synchronous generator's parameters and performance, incl uding damper bar currents and iron core losses, under open-circuit sho rt-circuit impedance, and infinite bus load conditions. The full syner gistic effects of space harmonics resulting from the magnetic circuit geometry, saliency, saturation, winding layouts, slotting, and time ha rmonics resulting from the nonsinusoidal armature currents and field a s well as damper bar currents, are included in the simulations.
