Functionalized poly(epsilon-caprolactone)s have been easily prepared b
y using a new heterogeneous catalytic system consisting of aluminium a
lcoholate supported on porous silica and the corresponding alcohol in
excess. The polymers have been fully characterized by H-1 and C-13 NMR
spectroscopy. Oligo(caprolactone-co-ethylene oxide)s have been synthe
sized by the same catalytic system. The diad comonomer distribution as
obtained by H-1 NMR suggests a blocky structure. In addition, low deg
rees of crystallization have been determined by means of DSC.
