Abstract
We report a case of human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-I)-in fected adult T-cell lymphoma that has multiple chromosomal abnormaliti es, including the presence of an additional 7q22-36, which contains th e locus of the T-cell receptor (TCR) beta chain gene, Specific TCR J b eta 1/J beta 2 gene rearrangements were detected in both marrow and pe ripheral blood DNA, with evidence of further evolution of the transfor med clonal population within the peripheral lymphocytes. To our knowle dge, this is the first case in which gene rearrangements have been ass ociated with additional TCR loci, Consequently, it is advised that eve ry effort should be made to correlate chromosomal abnormalities with g ene rearrangement by molecular methods.
