Abstract
A young boy developed sixth nerve palsies at 4 1/2, 7, and 7 1/2 years of age. The last episode was accompanied by a partial external third nerve palsy. Variable orbital pain and a viral type illness accompanie d each attack which cleared spontaneously with no residua within 2-8 w eeks. This is the first reported instance of so-called 'benign idiopat hic oculomotor palsy' with combined third and sixth nerve palsies.
