Abstract
A metal atom beam source of simple and compact design is described. It provides stable and reliable atom beams of metals with widely differe nt melting points. Beam densities are suitable for crossed beam studie s of collision processes involving electrons, ions or photons where th e collision products may be studied by methods based on mass spectrome try or optical spectroscopy.
