Abstract
Saccobolus saccoboloides was grown in a liquid synthetic medium with c rystalline cellulose as the only carbon source. Culture supernatant wa s used to measure activities of the enzymes of the cellulolytic comple x: beta-1,4 endoglucanase, beta-1,4 exoglucanase and beta-glucosidase. The kinetics of growth and enzyme production were studied in static a nd shaken cultures. The influence of various nitrogen sources, on prod uction of the various cellulases in the culture medium was investigate d. Growth and cellulolytic enzymes production were maximal when organi c nitrogenous compounds were supplied. Enzymatic production was maxima l at an initial pH of the growth medium of 6.5. Enzymatic activities w ere favored in the range of 50-55 C and pH 4.8-5.4.
