Abstract
Resonance fluorescence affected by a radiation trapping has been obser ved in two different cases: strong and weak excitation of the 3(2)P(1/ 2) sodium level. The experiment confirmed a previously predicted effec t, that in an optically bleached medium the fluorescence signal can de crease faster than the natural decay. A good agreement between numeric al calculations and experimental data was found.
