Abstract
The interferon-1 inducer imiqnimod (1), possessing an imidazo[4,5-c]qu inoline ring, has been newly synthesized by two routes based on therma l electrocyclic reactions of 1- and 2-azahexatriene systems involving the imidazole 4,5-bond.
