Abstract
There ir a continuing need for gas turbine engines with improved durab ility and performance. Of all the technologies contributing to future gas turbines, advanced materials, such as nanostructured materials, ar e expected to provide more than 50% of the required improvements. Nano structured materials are required with improved strength, toughness an d temperature capabilities. The enhanced plasticity and diffusivity of nanostructured material con also serve to facilitate the fabrication of complex materials and structures.
