P. Debernardi, LOCKING CHARACTERISTICS OF FABRY-PEROT SEMICONDUCTOR-LASER OSCILLATORS WITH SIDE-MODE INJECTION, Optics letters, 21(9), 1996, pp. 656-658
A model to evaluate frequency locking by means of a power injection ne
ar a side mode of the free-running frequency is presented. Semiconduct
or optical nonlinearities govern the locking problem; they are represe
nted by nonlinear coefficients that take into account both carrier flu
ctuations and all relevant fast phenomena. Field equations are derived
from coupled-mode theory, accounting for longitudinal variations by m
eans of appropriate mean values. Examples of results show both the sin
gle locked frequency-stable operation region and the case when the inj
ected signal and the free-running field coexist. (C) 1996 Optical Soci
