The method of thermally stimulated electrical conductivity (TSC) is ap
plied between 77 and 550 K to the study of traps in an alpha-Al2O3 syn
thetic single crystal after X and/or UV irradiations. A comparison is
made with its thermoluminescence properties. In particular, the study
of the optical filling-up (photoinduced TSC: PITSC) of the trap linked
with the peak at 295 K (B') is discussed, thanks to measurements of t
hermal annealings and UV excitation spectra of PITSC, specially.
