Abstract
Increasingly sophisticated and expensive medical technologies, chronic illness and aging, and a population that insists upon the best health care and coverage, together demand that priorities be set in the publ ic funding of health care. This article describes Spanish initiatives in dealing with such problems and analyses the ethical implications of health care legislation and rationing.
