Abstract
Monomeric alpha-alkylthioacroleins were obtained by the reaction of al kylthioacetaldehydes with formaldehyde and diethylamine hydrochloride. The structures of the alpha-alkylthioacroleins were confirmed by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry as well as by chemical transformati ons of these compounds.
