This is a revision of the bibliography related to the neurophysiologic
al aspects of schizophrenia observed by means of the recent methods of
exploration of the brain electrical activity, such as brain mapping a
nd long latency, or the so called cognitive evoked potentials. The neu
rophysiological findings are correlated with data from other methods o
f exploration of the Central Nervous System, such as those that deal w
ith the macroscopical and microscopical structure of the brain and wit
h its chemistry and metabolism. The different hypothesis suggested for
understanding the factors related to the genesis of schizophrenia, su
ch as the genetic, the neurodevelopmental, the neuropharmacologycal an
d the histochemical, are discussed.
