Abstract
Co(II)(salen)dagger derivatives whose ethanediyl moiety carries an ome ga-alkenyl side chain react with oxygen and methanol or ethanol to giv e, via interaction between intermediate Co(III) species and the pendan t olefin, alkylated products with a beta-alkoxy substituted carbon bri dge between cobalt and the equatorial ligand; the corresponding interm olecular reaction between Co(II)(salen) and hex-1-ene does not take pl ace.
