Abstract
A novel device for headbox flow research has been built at the Finnish Pulp and Paper Research Institute (KCL). Small-scale experiments at v ery high slice jet velocities are possible. Slice jet quality was asse ssed with water flow experiments using high-speed photography analysis . A conventional slice-geometry with a slice bar Is compared with othe r shapes. In general, jet quality does not deteriorate on doubling the currently typical machine speeds.
