Abstract
Using some local and nonlocal symmetries of the KdV equation we get tw o types of nontrivial new similarity reductions. The first type of red uction equation can be solved by means of the Weierstrass elliptic fun ction and the Riemann's zeta function while the solutions of the other type of reduction can be changed to the Painleve II equation.
