Abstract
The investigation of the seed oil of Zanthoxylum alatum for insecticid al activity, has resulted in characterization of a new component cis-1 0-octadecenoic acid. The position of the double bond has been establis hed from GC:MS of its pyrrolidide derivative and by comparison with an authentic sample prepared independently. This has been erroneously ch aracterized earlier as cis-9-octadecenoic acid based on GLC studies of the degraded products.
